Divisions

Patrol

The Patrol Division is the largest division within the Hooksett Police Department. Officers assigned to the Patrol Division are responsible for providing 24/7/365 patrol and emergency coverage in the town. Aside from responding to emergency calls, officers assigned to the Patrol Division are assigned areas of town to prevent and deter crime, take initial reports, enforce motor vehicle laws, and assist with traffic crashes. The Patrol Lieutenant oversees the operations within this division.

Support Services

The Support Services Division is committed to providing the public with the most efficient service possible during both emergency and non-emergency situations. Support Services oversees the Dispatch center which is staffed 24/7/365. The Dispatch center handles incoming calls, radio traffic, and transmits notifications of emergency and non-emergency situations to the Patrol Division. Support Services is also responsible for the maintenance and records management of the Body Worn Cameras, as well as the Department’s social media, with the Support Services Lieutenant serving as the Department’s Public Information Officer.

Detective

Cases assigned to the Detective Division require an enormous amount of time and resources. All major crimes are handled within this division, which include child abuse and neglect, sexual assaults, narcotics, property crimes, and violent crimes. The Evidence Technician processes on average more than 1,000 pieces of evidence a year. The Detective Lieutenant oversees the operations within this division.

Prosecution

The Prosecution Division prosecutes all violation and misdemeanor level offenses in the 6th Circuit – District Division Court (Hooksett District Court) and all juvenile offenses. Felony level offenses are prosecuted by the Merrimack County Attorney’s Office in the Merrimack County Superior Court. The Prosecution Division is headed by the Prosecutor.
