K-9

In 2018, after a 10-year hiatus, the K-9 program was re-established at HPD. Our K-9 is a dual purpose canine, certified in patrol and narcotics work and is utilized for tracking, apprehension, article/evidence searches, narcotics detection, and community outreach. The K-9 program is overseen by the Patrol Lieutenant.

Honor Guard

The Honor Guard is made up of volunteer officers who represent the Hooksett Police Department at a variety of special functions including National Night Out, ceremonies, parades, funerals, and other special events.

Crash Reconstruction Unit

The primary purpose of the Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is to investigate and form conclusions related to specific areas in motor vehicle crashes including: pre-impact speed of vehicle(s) as determined from roadway and vehicle evidence, sequential and physical relationships of vehicles prior to a collision, existence of any vehicle defects which may have factored into a crash, and forensic mapping of collision scenes. CRU members receive specialized training in Motor Vehicle Reconstruction, Forensic Mapping, and Vericom Brake Testing. Additionally, members receive specialized training in the Carlson Software Investigations drawing program and crash reconstruction using video analysis.

SNHSOU

Hooksett and several other local agencies have combined law enforcement resources to form the Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit (SNHSOU) SWAT Team. SNHSOU members are trained in special tactics to attempt to resolve incidents without injury or loss of life. SNHSOU is responsible for providing specialized police response to its member communities especially in situations that exceed the normal capabilities of the individual agencies. HPD has several individuals who participate on the team and the Chief is a member of the Board of Directors.

ICAC

The Hooksett Police Department is an affiliate member of the NH Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a multiagency, multijurisdictional organization that has developed responses to prevent, interrupt, investigate and prosecute internet crimes against children. In this capacity, the Hooksett Police Detectives Division investigates CyberTipline reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children involving the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Investigators conduct surveillance of suspected offenders and execute search warrants to gather evidence for prosecution.

CISM

The Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team provides assistance to all emergency responder personnel, both civilian and sworn, who have been exposed to a professional or personal critical incident. The CISM Team provides personnel the opportunity to receive mental health and wellbeing support services from a trained peer and via referral to a community mental health program and/or social services when needed. The HPD CISM Team is made up of sworn and civilian personnel and is part of the multi-agency Southern New Hampshire (SNHCISM) Team.
